Site Floras

Site Floras are one of the most useful botanical publications. By recording all the plants in a site very thoroughly, over a period of time, it is possible to detect changes in the vegetation that would be difficult to spot otherwise.

This information is useful in predicting what further changes will occur in the future, and thus allows us to make informed (evidence-based) management advice to land owners and managers.

It also allows sites to be compared, in terms of their species richness, conservation value, and ecological quality.

The Shropshire Botanical Society has now completed three Site Floras, which are downloadable here. We hope to undertake more in future years.

Flora of Haughmond Hill, pdf 1.30Mb.

Flora of Attingham Park, pdf 391kb.

The Botany of the Long Mynd, pdf 511kb.

Newsletters

Our Newsletter is produced twice a year. It is not a formal journal, but is our means of reporting to the membership about new records and developments in the county. Occasionally it includes articles submitted by members, and these are always welcomed.

Past newsletters are available electronically. The format is Adobe pdf. If you do not have the software to open them you can get the free pdf reader from the Adobe web site. Just Google it.
